Cookies are small files that a website saves in your browser. We use very few.
We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies. We do not track you across other websites.
The cookies we use
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
Session cookie (sm_s) |
Keeps you signed in and keeps your account secure. The site cannot work properly without it. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
Cart cookie (sm_cart) |
Remembers the notes in your cart before you sign in. | 60 days |
Discount-code referral cookie (sm_code) |
If you arrive through a creator's link or code, it remembers the code so the discount applies and the creator gets credit. | 30 days |
Google sign-in cookie (sm_oauth) |
Only if you use Google sign-in. Protects the sign-in step from being tampered with. | 10 minutes |
The session, cart and sign-in cookies are strictly necessary. The referral cookie is used only for discount codes and creator credit. It is not used for advertising.
Saved as you go
When you fill in a form one question at a time, your answers are saved in your browser's own storage (local storage and IndexedDB), so you don't lose them if you close the page. This includes notes files you have picked but not yet published. This stays on your device and is cleared when you finish. It is not sent to anyone until you press Next or Publish.
Bot protection
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell real people from bots, for example when you sign up or log in. To do this, Cloudflare checks some information about your browser and connection. Cloudflare may use its own security-related cookies or similar technology. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Google sign-in
If you choose Google sign-in, Google may set its own cookies. Their policies apply.
Your choices
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session or cart cookie, you will not be able to sign in or check out.
More about how we handle personal information is in our Privacy Policy. Questions: privacy@studymarket.co.za.
